Daily Crime & Incident Log
We have significantly upgraded our database and search capabilities and we are now able to provide a much more complete view of department activities. This page allows real-time searches of the database of incidents we have on the web. Generally this database is updated every business day.
The check-boxes above allow visitors to search among all types of incidents or limit their searches to the particular type of incident(s) they are interested in. (For a description of the sub-classifications within each incident type see our Incident Classification page.)
In addition visitors may search for information on Arrests made by UPD.
Once you have chosen the type(s) of incidents you would like to search for enter the date range for the search and click on the "Begin Search" button. The searches do present differing data for each type of incident searched for based on what is most appropriate for that incident type. A brief description of the search data presented for each type of incident is provided below.
If you still only want a single day you may easily view that data by entering the date in both the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' fields, but now those, who want to look at our activity over a range of dates can do so without having to enter each date seperately.
WARNING!! We are averaging about 2,000 incidents logged each month. Searches of large date ranges and/or multiple Incident Types will take a few moments to display and will generate a large dataset.
Along with the upgrade of our search parameters we now have greatly expanded the information available to the public through our website. These improvements include the following:
Improved Search Options - We are still maintaining the ability to search and display all types of incidents over a given date range but we have added the ability to generate more narrowly defined searches. Now users may choose to look at only criminal incidents, only non-criminal incidents, only traffic related incidents, or only administrative incidents. (An explaination of our categories and a list of what types of incidents fall within each may be found HERE.)
Improved Criminal Incident information - Now when searching for criminal incidents visitors will not only find the basic information regarding the incident but we are also including the case status - both by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice categories as well as Campus specific categories.
Arrest Log-book - Visitors to our website may now view our Arrest Log-book on-line which will give information on all the non-juvenile arrests made by our officers.
Vehicle Stop Data - We now have available to the public data on all vehicle stops made by our officers. Included in this dataset is the reason for the stop, the age, sex and race of the driver, and whether a summons or warning was issued.
